Watermelon Summer

Dress and belt: Just Me (similar here and here) // Pumps BCBG (almost identical) // Clutch: Clare V.

This outfit reminds me of one I had when I was around four or five years old with a watermelon appliqué on the little top. I remember it being one of my favorites, probably because it had pockets. Can you believe this dress was on sale for only $20? It even came with the bow belt, which I originally thought I would replace with something a little less preppy, but ended up loving. I think it's a great dupe for Kate Spade

When we were trying to take these photos after church on Sunday it kept raining on and off while the sun was still shining in true southern summer style, so I decided to just use my umbrella as a prop. I thought it almost looked like the seeds of a watermelon.

I have a big birthday coming up this week, and I'm actually working on a collaboration project on my special day that I can't wait to share with all of you. Be sure to check in next week!

Pink Zebra

Romper: BCBG (20% off with code SUN) // Saddle Bag: Sole Society // Sandals: Jessica Simpson, old (similar) // Sunnies: Ray-ban

I'm so obsessed with the background in these pictures, but I can neither confirm nor deny whether I had to trespass to get them. Ok but seriously this house on Tybee Island had all pink zebra details, including their shed doors, and either no one was home or they're just used to people posing in their driveway for pictures. The whole place reminded me of a Barbie dream house or a Lilly Pulitzer ad.

I'm wearing the medium in the romper shown. It's just a tad too large (a little too much fabric in the midsection), and I'm normally a size 6 for reference. It's not juniors sizing, so if you even think you might need to size down then do. I've linked everything above and in the widget below.

Sherbet Dress

Matt and I had such a great time on Tybee Island over the long weekend, but the weather was sort of wild. As you can see by my hair, we almost got blown away by 25 mph winds trying to take these photos on the beach one evening. I bought this sherbet colored dress at a small boutique, and I don't really recognize the brand, but I've linked a couple of similar, affordable (as always) styles here and here. My Sam Edelman sandals are new this year, but I guess I'm not the only one who liked them because they are going to sell out soon. They're still available in limited sizes from DSW. I've linked a bunch of equally cute metallic sandals in the widget below. Sorry for the super quick post. It's going to be a busy summer for me!

Memorial Day Packing

Bathing suit top and bottom: Giani Bini // Cuff bracelet: Lilly for Target (similar) // Saddle bag: Red Dress Boutique // Sunnies: Thrift store find (similar

As I was studying yesterday (read: kind of thinking about the beach) my mind drifted to what I would pack for a mini vacation I'm going on with friends this weekend. When we go to Savannah, there's always a lot to pack since I'll need plenty of beachwear, sunscreen, towels, etc., plus outfits to explore Riverstreet and the "touristy" parts of Savannah. Going into town requires a cute, comfortable outfit that I don't mind taking pictures in, but that will be comfortable all day. That also means wearing COMFORTABLE FLATS (if I repeat it enough maybe it will stick in my head), which are not exactly my typical footwear of choice.

With everything I needed to remember to bring, but not wanting to overpack, I made a chart with room for each of the days that we'll be gone for a long weekend and day, night, and beach outfits for each day. I typed my own outfits in, but I've saved a blank one below that you can copy and print out. There's plenty of space to handwrite your own packing list into the grid. I hope this helps you to organize your mini vacation as much as it helped me! I'll definitely be using it again in about a month before our trip to the Dominican.

I've also saved some similar, high-waisted bathing suits in the widget below the post.

LBD x Borrowed from the Boys

Dress: (similar) // Shoes: (similar)  // Hat: (similar) // Bag (similar)  //
Necklace, gold rings, diamond-shaped bangle: Vanessa Mooney & Gorjana via Rocksbox, c/o (use code aldengishxoxo to get your first month of Rocksbox free)

This look is all about shopping your closet and mixing things you already have to create a new look for summer. I found this dress on the sale rack at Urban Outfitters last summer. I had worn it several times with either black wedges or metallic sandals, but when I saw this menswear (not inspired, actual men's) hat and Ked's at a thrift store the other day, I knew they would be the perfect pieces to dress down my absolute favorite summer LBD, which is saying something because my collection takes up about half my dress rack in my closet.

Personalized Stationary with Minted

Personalized stationary: Minted c/o // Bracelet: John Wind

Anyone who's seen me work knows I almost never sit at my desk. Desks are a landing place for junk and for putting on your makeup. I usually sit either on the floor (great for my back, I know), the couch, or the end of my bed.

I recently found some time to send a hand-written note to someone who has done quite a lot for me in a very short amount of time. Something about writing a letter on personalized stationary sends a message to the receiver that you really mean it and that you appreciate them enough not to send an email. This gold foil stationary from Minted with my full name in block letters was the perfect professional set for me to write those letters on. I also ordered a box for my mother with poppies in her favorite color, bright red.

If you're still looking for a Mother's Day gift, something personalized is always a nice touch because she knows you didn't pick it up on your way to brunch. This monogrammed set would also be really cute for the preppy mom, a friend getting married, or just the sorority girl in all of us. Use the code PAUPER10 when you check out to get 10% off your Minted purchase through May 10th.
